Africa is a massive continent that spans thousands of kilometres, contains countless cultures, languages, and peoples, and has some of the very best wildlife that the natural world has to offer. There are endless adventures to be found throughout Africa, and anyone with a love for the great outdoors could spend a lifetime exploring the continent and not see everything there is to see.
Africa Is Safe
Africa has an incredibly turbulent past, and over the last century, there have been numerous civil wars that have ravaged large parts of the continent. But, for the most part, the wars are long gone, and most countries are developing at a fast pace, with many expected to be superpowers over the next few decades. This also means that Africa is now the safest that it’s ever been, and it’s possible to travel the majority of the continent without running into any issues.
Of course, there are some exceptions, such as Somalia, but most travellers will never have to worry otherwise.
National Parks Galore
Africa boasts some of the largest national parks in the world, from the Kruger National Park in South Africa to the Amboseli National Park in Kenya and countless others, this is the perfect continent for the anyone that has a passion for nature.
From ancient Afro-montane forests to large, dry savannahs packed with all manner of animals, there are few other regions across the globe the same diversity. It’s a good idea to get a hold of a tough off-road vehicle when exploring the various national parks, as some of them are truly off the beaten track, while others can easily be traversed with even the smallest city cars – it all depends on the park.
It’s Relatively Cheap
For travellers that are coming from a developed country with a strong currency, such as the euro or the dollar, they’ll find that travelling through Africa will be incredibly cheap. Basic items, such as food, are usually extremely cheap in most Africa countries, and it won’t cost an arm and a leg to move from one place to another. Accommodation is also quite affordable, and there are plenty of Airbnb and camping options available throughout most of the countries in Africa.
The downside here is that many areas don’t have solid infrastructure, so it might be difficult to find decent signal or an internet connection for Skype, email, or NZ online gambling sites without paying a lot for roaming or other similar expenses.
The People Are Great
For the most part, African people are some of the friendliest in the world and are generally quite welcoming to outsiders. There are hundreds of incredibly rich cultures, and each one is as interesting as the last. Along with this, travellers can expect to try a huge variety of traditional dishes, with something new to try in every new region.
For the ultimate holiday at a low cost and with so much to do, Africa remains the go-to for anyone with a thirst for adventure.
